About the store

Experience

I am a professional engineer with 20 years of industry experience and nearly 30 years of experience as an educator. My work spans both formal and informal learning environments, including K–12 classrooms, higher education, educator professional development, and STEM program design. Over the years, I have worked directly with students, teachers, school leaders, and university partners to create meaningful, rigorous learning experiences that connect academic content to real-world problem solving. My background allows me to bring both technical depth and instructional expertise to the resources I create.

Teaching style

My teaching style is grounded in authentic problem solving, inquiry, and the Engineering Design Process. I believe students learn best when they are actively engaged in questioning, designing, testing, reflecting, and improving. I also believe strong instruction should not only teach content, but build the habits of mind that help students become creative thinkers, collaborators, and confident problem solvers. Whether in STEM or non-STEM classrooms, I design learning experiences that are engaging, standards-aligned, and intentionally structured to support high-quality instructional delivery.

My own education history

My professional journey has been shaped by the intersection of engineering, education, leadership, and curriculum design. As both an engineer and educator, I have spent decades studying how students learn best and how teachers can be supported in delivering instruction that is rigorous, relevant, and impactful. My work in K–12, higher education, and professional learning has deepened my commitment to creating resources that bridge theory and practice while helping educators confidently bring innovative instruction into their classrooms.

Additional biographical information

I am the founder of The STEMpreneur, an initiative focused on professional development and improving the quality of instructional delivery for students. I am also the author of Designing Minds, a book that argues for the use of the Engineering Design Process as an instructional pedagogy in both STEM and non-STEM classrooms. My work is driven by the belief that the Engineering Design Process is more than a tool for building—it is a powerful framework for teaching, learning, and thinking across content areas. Through curriculum resources, educator supports, and professional learning experiences, I aim to help teachers create classrooms where students are engaged, challenged, and equipped to think deeply about the world around them.
