Music Stand FUN Name Plate

Opening day activity for your classroom can be fun and memorable with this activity. Just copy this document one-sided to two-sided and have students write their name one side and fill out the other side. It is a great way to learn names as well as learn about your students. I had my students turn them in every day and I would give them back the next day. Some of them I would respond to. It's a great ice breaker for young students and something silly for older students.

Experience

I have taught K-12 in general music (2 years), guitar (5 years), and orchestra (14 years) in public school. I mainly focused in the junior high for 11 of those years teaching orchestra, guitar, and even yearbook while also teaching elementary strings. Teaching style

I am about the whole learner. I like being creative in my classroom and focusing on technology, creativity, safe sharing, and promoting passion for music.

Additional biographical information

I have coordinated many string State In-Services and hope that these resources help with everyday teaching, sub plans, or to be used at conferences. I started off in violin and also play the viola and have always felt that the alto clef gets ignored. All theory documents that are created, have all the instruments in mind, and are student tested. I have a love and passion for guitar (it was my first musical instrument). I really enjoy teaching guitar in the public school but feel there are a lack of ready-made resources to supplement method books for assessment (and the data driven world we live in). Hopefully some of my materials will help you focus more on playing and assessing their knowledge in a practical way.
