I Have Thoughts Social Narrative, Read Aloud Video, & Digital Reflection Sheets

A social narrative about how thoughts and behaviors are related. This simple story is the perfect supplement to any social-emotional curriculum and lessons based on the Theory of Mind. They may have skill deficits in perspective-taking, social-emotional reciprocity, and empathy. The narrative

Experience

I am a social worker for a primary school and currently work with students who have special and diverse needs. I have +10 years experience providing individual/group counseling, parent/teacher consultation, crisis intervention, and student advocacy.

Teaching style

I enjoy creating and leading social emotional lessons that allow for students to be active and engaged participants. I love incorporating interactive games, puppet shows, music and movement, video modeling, and storytelling to my individual and group counseling sessions, and find that my students learn and retain social skills more effectively when they THINK, FEEL, and DO. I only have a 30-45 minute time frame for my individual, group and classroom sessions, and so typically, I avoid worksheets and activities that involve lots of writing. I want for the students to practice their social communication skills in real time and prefer that we role-play, discuss, observe and practice social, self-regulation and problem-solving skills instead of completing worksheets. I've created resources in my store that reflect this teaching style and philosophy. I have used and currently use all of the resources in my own practice and hope they are useful to you as well. I am open to suggestions and welcome any feedback to improve/edit. Email: info@thinkfeeldocounseling.com
