This simple to use writing set covers the topic of writing a how to essay. It includes a brainstorming four square for pictures and/or for paragraphs. It also includes a final copy page. Use this product to help your students write an essay and then use it to prepare for common core speaking and listening when they share their essays to the class.
We used to call this a how-to essay writing, but the common core calls it Informational/Explanatory.
I Know an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Pie is a fantastic story to read to your students around Thanksgiving. You can use the blank sheet to have the children draw their own pictures. Here is a reading strategy to use in your classroom. The children do the following with a reading selection: Scan the story, Predict what it will be about, Read, Evaluate-write 3 questions about what you read, Authorize-tell the author's Purpose, Details-answer the 5 Ws, and Summary-write a summary about what they read.
This strategy is helpful with comprehension and follows the Common Core.

I used graphics from Melonheadz to show smiling children to make these posters. Just print them out and hang in your classroom to bring "cuteness" and color to your walls. My expectations are: Be Respectful, Be Responsible, Be Safe, and Be Ready to Learn.

Here is a cute monster themed behavior clip chart. All the students start out on "Ready to Learn". They then have 3 opportunities to clip up or 3 opportunities to clip down. If you would rather do 2 up or down, you can just print out the tags you need.

I made this birthday chart using the adorable Creative Clips Seasonal Cupcakes. I included each month on a color coordinated rectangle. I included two different shapes you can use to write your student's names and birthdates on (one is a large black and white graphic and the other is a colored graphic). I also included two bigger cupcakes to add to the top of your poster.
This banner does not have a grade on it so any grade level can use it. Just print it out and hang it up.

Print these out and attach to straws or pencils to give to your students for a Monster-riffic birthday treat. I have 6 different monsters. I added Love, Your Teacher for 6 of them and I made 6 say Love, _____ so you can sign your name.

This behavior clip chart is mystery themed. I have included colored boxes and colored outline boxes (just in case you don't want to use all that color ink). I also have two versions on strips that you can send home daily to the parents. My students attach them to their student planners each day. And I also included a picture of how I hang mine.
Here is a way to keep the noise level down in your monster themed classroom. I have included Teacher Voice, Group Voice, Whisper Voice, and No Voice. Print out and attach a clothespin to show the noise level you want your class to be working on.
I've also included the letters to spell out: N...O...I...S...E. You can print out these letters, put magnets on the back, and attach to your board. Take one letter off each time your class is too noisy. When they get to NO there is no talking.
