The Great Gatsby Complete Unit Bundle | PowerPoint Guided Notes Quizzes 504 IEP

There are a lot of Gatsby bundles on TPT. Most of them are collections of loosely related worksheets assembled around one novel. This is a full instructional unit built around three essential questions, designed to run from bell to bell every day for seven weeks. The unit teaches six texts, not one. Gatsby is the anchor, but students arrive there having already read Chopin, Carter, Seuss, Faulkner, and a Blast on beliefs and society. The performance task asks students to compare how expectation

Most Gatsby PowerPoints on TPT are teacher-facing note slides. Students copy definitions while the teacher talks. That's not what this is. Every slide in this deck is designed to be projected for students and used with them, not at them. The agenda slide at the start of every lesson tells students exactly what they're doing and what they're walking away with. Activity slides have built-in critical thinking prompts, not just step-by-step directions. Writing slides have the prompt, the goal, the f

The quizzes you see most on TPT for Gatsby are comprehension checks. 15 questions about what happened, self-graded in Google Forms, built to catch students who didn't read. That's a different tool for a different goal. These quizzes are analysis tools. Every multiple choice question requires inference and interpretation, not recall. The answer choices are deliberately the same length across all four options so students can't identify the correct answer by scanning for the longest one. That's a r

Most reading guides for Gatsby ask students to identify what happens. These ask students to think about what it means. Every chapter in these notes has four sections. A key events tracker where students log what actually happens. A symbol and imagery table where they track four symbols per chapter, each with its color and tone and an analytical prompt that pushes past naming into interpretation. Three guiding questions tied to the unit's essential questions: Beliefs and Identity, Weight of Expec

About the store

Experience

15 years across web design, education, corporate training, and instructional design. I have worked as a paraeducator with special needs students, a classroom and virtual teacher across Colorado and Texas, a curriculum coordinator, and an L&D specialist in hospitality and corporate settings. I am currently in the classroom and finishing my M.S. in Instructional Design and Technology. I know what works because I have done the job at every level.

Teaching style

I teach the way I game: fast-paced, layered, and always with a clear objective. My classroom runs on short bursts of direct instruction paired with application activities, discussion, and student-driven analysis. My instructional design background means I think about every resource in terms of learning outcomes, cognitive load, and accessibility before I think about aesthetics. I believe students rise to high expectations when you give them the right scaffolds to get there.

Awards & shining teacher moments

Watching a student who "hates reading" write a paragraph they are genuinely proud of is the only award that matters to me. My best moments have come from students who came in convinced they couldn't do the work and left with evidence that they could. That is what I design for, in the classroom and everywhere else.

My own education history

B.A. in Journalism and Technical Communications and Minor in Information Science and Technology & M.A. in Education, secondary ELA focus. Currently completing my M.S. in Instructional Design and Technology at Full Sail University, graduating November 2026. My professional work in instructional design and web design has run alongside my classroom career the whole time, and both show up in how I build resources.

Additional biographical information

Outside the classroom I'm a Twitch and YouTube content creator, a member of a chaotic gaming squad called Team BDYDB, and someone who genuinely believes that games and gamified learning are underused tools in secondary education. Thirteen Tabs is where that belief meets real classroom materials.
