About the store

Experience

I have over 30 years of experience teaching children of all ages and stages. My passion is for Reggio Emilia, child-centered, play-based engaging learning experiences.

Teaching style

My teaching style is focused on cooperative learning – learning that encourages students to work in pairs or groups. These groupings can be informal or formal. I also utilize active learning – encouraging kids to be active participants in their learning (as opposed to passive participants, as is sometimes the case with instructor-focused teaching). Anything from individual reflection to group learning can be a form of active learning.

My own education history

I knew I wanted to be a kindergarten teacher since I was in high school. My life took me in many directions but I made it back to elementary education later in life. I am an urban educator in South Central Los Angeles where I developed a play-based, Reggio-inspired TK program for my charter school. I currently teach 1st grade but my passion is for preschoolers and helping them to prepare for their first school experience.

Additional biographical information

I help hard-working parents prepare their children for their first school experience without having to spend hundreds on physical products that they will only outgrow. I help teachers of young children create engaging activities with little to no prep.
