Super helpful when introducing paper weaving! Students need to fold the paper in half, cut along the dotted lines, and cover the Xs. Template is scaffolded so that by the end, students need to focus on the patterns and not the Xs to determine how to start their next paper strip. Can be printed on regular paper or cardstock.
This bundle contains the Google Slides for the Picnic Basket Unit and 3 paper weaving loom templates for young kiddos -- the original "paper weaving practice template" plus 2 more templates created specifically for this unit.
Students learn about the history of games around the world, and then take 4 weeks to shape a slab, roll and attach coils, create their player pieces and paint their finished product. Intended as an introductory lesson for grades 3-6.
In this unit, students read the book "The Artivist" by Nikkolas Smith to learn about combining art with activism. Students then brainstorm ways they could change the world to help people, the planet, and animals, and design a pin that can spread awareness of a cause that is personally important to them. I would strongly recommend listening the this book on YouTube before purchasing this unit to ensure it is a book that is suitable for your students.
***Google Slides Version*** This is a resource created to teach and talk to students about Pride Month. It is geared towards kindergarten, first, and second grade primary students. It discusses reviews topics such as different types of families, different types of people, and different pronouns. It discusses questions such as, what does the word proud/pride mean? What is pride month about? Why do rainbows represent pride month? It is one lesson meant to introduce the topic.
I have this Google Slides presentation up everyday, all day. This Slides presentation has editable slides for behavior management, weekly art-centered behavior charts, seating chart templates and clean up procedures slides to display. Slides are created for Monday-Friday use, with embedded links for navigating to different days and back to home.
This is a template for students to create stickers with. You'll want parchment paper, packing tape, and a space for students to draw in that fits inside the tape. Students cut a piece of parchment paper, place a piece of tape. Put their drawing, and then place another piece of tape on top (like a tape sandwich). They HAVE to leave a border around their drawing when they cut out their sticker at the end so that the sticker functions.
I created these slides for the first day of school with all of my classes as an art teacher coming to a new school! On day 1, I introduce my rules and procedures, and then we keep it simple with a name tent. Grades 3-5 is more involved than K-2.
I am in the process of creating a manga unit for my 5th grade students. Slides will be added as our unit progresses; so far week 1 is listed here. Week 1 - Learn about manga & practice drawing face shape and hair Week 2 - Practice drawing different sets of eyes Week 3 - Begin final drawing (sketch with pencil) Week 4 - Outline with thin sharpie Week 5 - Color Week 6 - Color
As an art teacher, we design our own curriculums. I designed this spreadsheet to help me long-range plan and keep track of weekly plans to build my elementary art curriculum. Each grade level is color-coded, and it is easy to move things around or write as much (or as little) as you would like in each box without overwhelming the layout. If you use Google Slides for your lessons, you can also easily link each of your presentations to this Google Sheets planner. I provided my example for the fir
This project explores what a traditional portrait is, and inspires students to create a nontraditional portrait of themselves that includes aspects of who they are and incorporates their own traditions. I do this project with 4th grade, but I think 4th-12th graders could easily do this project with different levels of scaffolding and support. This product includes Google Slides for the 4-week unit, the printable practice resource, and the permission letter to send home to parents before taking p
I made this simple, but meaningful, lesson with students in grades 3-5 in mind. This is the template that I created, but I took out my own artwork and left room for you to add your own art in to make it personalized to you, as an artist/art teacher.
Students learn about features of a landscape, and warm and cool colors in this 3-week painting project. I love this project for my 2nd grade students -- they always turn out beautiful and unique to each child!
This lesson focuses on perspective; having students understand, visualize and draw a snowman from bird's eye view. This can be a one and done, or followed up by a lesson on worm's eye perspective!
*UPDATED* Fonts should transfer now!! This is a Powerpoint Lesson created to teach and talk to students about Pride Month. It is geared towards kindergarten, first, and second grade primary students. It discusses reviews topics such as different types of families, different types of people, and different pronouns. It discusses questions such as, what does the word proud/pride mean? What is pride month about? Why do rainbows represent pride month? This is one lesson meant to introduce the topic.
Teaching -ed to kids can be tricky! This resource simplifies the process by creating anchor charts that say the rules for teaching -ed, and provides a list of words that fit each rule on the back of the anchor charts. Happy teaching!

Behavior management in the art room tool. I track each class's behavior with a star chart (there is a template included in these slides that you can use to make another star chart presentation if you'd like) and then show these slides when/if they earn their choice day at the end of the quarter! It's a win for everyone :)
Black and white cubby names that go with the black and white desk tags and password tags. There are 6 options: 2 options for 3.5x3 label pockets, 2 options for 3.5x3.5 label pockets, and 2 options to stick on the thin outside parts of cubbies if you'd rather not use pockets! Black and white so it's not a pain to print new ones when you get new students mid year and don't have access to the school's color printer!
