Are you tired of the being the sage on the stage while students mindlessly take notes? This time the students will be the ones doing the hard work. As they read the examples on this presentation, they must be able to figure out what a simile and what a metaphor are. They will also play four corners to show what they know. The last slides contain directions for students to make their own presentations.

Differentiate easily with this activity. Students will find their own recipe in a cookbook or on the web. They will also create a table on Microsoft Word that shows how to double and triple the recipe. Optional: Have students film a cooking show.
