This activity packet has passages, questions, maps, and region information about North Carolina and its landforms, rivers, lakes, and resources. Page 1 Information about the three regions of NC Page 2 Questions about the regions of NC Page 3 A map of NC with questions about what regions cities, rivers and lakes are located. It also has directional question to answer using a compass rose. Page 4 Information about natural resources, resources from the land, crops, minerals and plants and animals.

After studying NC state government, you can review or practice the three branches of government and other aspects of NC government by using these cards. Cut and laminate the 20 cards for years of use. ***Start with the card that states I Have the General Assembly -- that way it will work all around as long as the class answers the questions correctly*** You might want to make a black and white copy as an answer key because they were made in order of how the game goes but once cut and laminate

Directions: Paste the title strip in your notebook. Then glue only the tabs on the two types of mechanical energies and paste them in the notebook spaced apart. Lift the two flaps and write the meaning of each energy. Next, cut out the examples of the two energies and paste them down the page under the correct mechanical energy. See my Smart Board Activity that uses these same pictures to compare the two with a Vortex Game.

On a large sheet of paper, fold it in half and make copies of a North Carolina outline on the fold of the paper. Cut the outline out so that the shape is a flip booklet. Have the students follow the guidelines in order to create a NC Regions Flip Book.

Cut out the cards and laminate. Pass them out to the students. Start with the card that reads... I have a Plott Hound. Go around the room asking and answering questions about the North Carolina State Symbols. I have even added some of the newer ones that have been added to North Carolina's list of state symbols. Cut out the cards and place the three branches across the top of the desk. The students, with a partner or in a group, reads the other cards and place them under the correct branch of government. It makes a "Tree Map" Thinking Map on your desk.

In this activity, you can use the cards for a scavenger hunt or as task cards. I will be posting the cards around our Multi-Purpose Room and get the children to roam around looking for the answers to the questions. The children use clip boards for their question sheets.
