I made this to go along with the Number Talks mental math strategies. I want my students to find different ways to make or "decompose" numbers. The goal is for students to understand that what one student gets as an answer may be different from another student's answer, and that both students can be correct.

This includes a front and back two step word problem with a Christmas theme. Students are required to show two steps and explain what they have done. In addition, they must answer in a complete sentence.

This is a practice sheet I created to help students solve real-world perimeter problems in a comical way. I thought if I could get them giggling and interested, they would have more fun and enjoy the word problem process! It comes with a sheet of grid paper just in case you don't have any handy!

This is to help students practice figuring the perimeter of irregular figures and polygons!

This is for my third graders to practice finding the area of irregularly shaped figures. There is a challenge on the back for them to figure out the area of figures that I hadn't yet taught. You could also just use the back as a part of everyday work!

I made this to practice the distributive property using arrays. The front I have pre-split the arrays for them. The back is more of a challenge to see if they can split them on their own and still understand he distributive property of multiplication.

I made this for multiplying by multiples of ten (MGSE3.NBT.3 , MCC3.NBT.3) word problems. Students should read the word problem, draw a picture, then write a matching equation.

I created this as a practice for my students for multiplying by multiples of ten. I gave students groupings using words. They were required to draw a picture to solve the problem then write a matching equation (i.e. 3 x 40 = 120). The back is for the early finishers who need a challenge, or have all of your class complete it!

This is a checklist I created to help my students self-assess solving word problems then let a peer check / assess their work so that they can get in the habit of completing necessary steps to solving word problems!

Students create hearts for valentines day out of different polygons. Once the polygons are created they used geometry definitions and multiplication to score their figures!

This is an activity that I made for students to be able to look at division problems as unknown factor problems. It relates multiplication and division. There is also a choice box. You can assign them problems for the box or let them choose!

This is a way of allowing students to represent multiplication three different ways. It isn't really "Halloween" but I did put a spiderweb border since I'm using it in October! :)

This is a differentiated word problem activity in that students have the freedom to choose which three out of six division "mysteries" they complete. Some problems have remainders while some will work out evenly. Some are also multistep providing a challenge for a variety of learning abilities!

This is day 4 in my plan after they're comfortable jumping hours on a number line. I give them a schedule with the beginning and elapsed times but they have to solve for the end times then do some problem solving afterwards.

I created this as a day 2 plan to my "Day 1 Minutes" lesson. This one goes over thirty minutes but still not quite to that hour mark yet to get them more comfortable before jumping hours.

This is an intro / day one activity that I made to just get my students' feet wet on elapsed time. All the times being figured are under thirty minutes. There are three clock problems and then two chart problems. All have a number line.

This is a practice sheet I used to introduce my students to comparing fractions with unlike denominators. This way they can draw it, see it, then figure out which one is greater. There are 8 problems total, two of which they have to partition the fraction independently.

This is a set of common core aligned task cards for multiplication and division. I have students that can give you a solution to a problem all day but as a challenge, I like to give them the solution and have them give me the problem! These are some task cards that give arrays but ask the kids to give you a matching problem. There are a variety of problems from choose your opperation, to multiplication story problems, multiplication number sentences, division ... etc. etc. There are twelve total

This is an activity I made to match GA standards MCC.3.OA.8, and MD.6 and 7. It is related to area as well as solving story problems. The students will need at least one if not two sheets of grid paper to show their thinking on. I copied front and back and let them do it that way. To differentiate the lesson, I let lower kids solve two of their choice and higher kids solve three problems of their choice. They could work individually or with a partner.
