I created this little craft to go over missing numbers in multiplication and division. I just did it in worksheet format to save time cutting and gluing. It is adorable if you have them color the snowflakes shades of blue then cut around the edge and paste it onto black construction paper!
In this no prep worksheet, students will practice finding perimeters of polygons using addition, grid paper, find missing sides, complete word problems, and end with a multi-part question for test prep. There are ten problems in all. There is also a printable anchor chart on page 1. You can blow it up as a poster, or I shrink it to fit composition notebooks and have my students glue it into their math journal as a reference tool! If you are 1:1 and use Google Classroom, you can find this assignm
This worksheet covers perimeter word problems. Students solve word problems while also completing critical thinking activities. The last problem has students analyze an answer and explain why the answer is wrong as well as why their answer is correct! There are ten problems in all for easy grading. There is also an "anchor chart" type sheet on the first page. I always have students glue this into their journal as a reference! If you are 1:1 or use Google Classroom you can find a digital copy of
This activity assists students in solving for area within word problems. The assignment is a gradual release type assignment. The first few clearly give the dimensions. Then, students will get the area and must determine possible dimensions. Finally, students finish with a couple of critical thinking questions. There is also an "anchor chart" of sorts on the first page. I always condense this so it is the size of a composition notebook page and have students glue it down into their math journal
This activity teaches students to decompose (use the distributive property) to solve for a large area model. The assignment is a gradual release type assignment. The first three problems are are completed, and students fill in the missing numbers. Then, students begin splitting the area model according to given rules. Finally, students end on a problem that allows them to do it all alone! There are six problems total to save room. I like to keep my worksheets down to front/back and that is what
This activity encourages students to find factors or side lengths involving area. There are six total problems that give students area. Students are then challenged to find the dimensions of a possible rectangle two different ways by shading their area model onto grid paper! There is also an "anchor" chart if you will, on page one of this activity. I always print this a bit smaller and have students glue it into their journal as a reference! Are you 1:1? Do you run on Google Classroom? If so the
This is for a basic introduction to area. There are problems in which students use the dimensions and multiply and slides with the area squares to be counted. The last three are word problems and the challenge gives students the area and allows them to find the missing dimensions. There is also an "anchor" chart if you will, on page one of this activity. I always print this a bit smaller and have students glue it into their journal as a reference! Is your classroom 1:1? Do you utilize Google Cla
In this activity, students will implement equal groups to give them a concrete understanding of how multiples of ten should work. Students will create equal groups of ten rods, match equations, and solve their own equations using a strategy of their choice. There is a digital version of this SAME lesson HERE !
This sheet has 12 area problems that will help students practice the following: - Recognize area as an attribute of plane figures and understand concepts of area measurement. - Measure areas by counting unit squares. - Relate area to the operations of multiplication and addition.
This activity will help students represent multiplication and division using many of the common core strategies. There are 12 problems total the last two problems allow students to solve problems any way they wish.
This activity teaches students how multiplication and division are related. Students work on multiplication and division fact families using arrays, equal groups, fact family triangles, and a multiplication and division word problem. If you need a digital copy of this assignment, look HERE !
This activity was made to go along with the book "The Doorbell Rang" by Pat Hutchins. With my students, I read the book and we work out division scenarios whole group. Then, they return to their Worksheets and complete this activity as their independent practice. There are questions in which students are drawing pictures to split the cookies then students end with unknown factor type problems and finally writing their own word problem. If you would like a digital copy of this activity on Google
This activity is a printable copy of my Division Word ProblemsThe first ten problems are word problems. The remaining three involve matching arrays and equations to given scenarios. Students will write and select correct answers.
This activity is on Google Slides. There are 20 cards total with a few being multiple choice and others being written response. The problems are worded in various ways to get students used to seeing different examples. The answer key is included in the file! There are basic algorithm problems, fact families with missing numbers, and word problems included.
This is a digital version of my rounding task cards! Need a paper version: Printable Rounding Task CardsThis activity is on Google Slides. There are 24 cards total with half being multiple choice and have being written response. The problems are worded in various ways to get students used to seeing different examples. The answer key is included in the file!
This is a lesson I made for Google Classroom. It opens with Google slides and can be pushed out for students to make their own copy. It is on the third grade math standard, for subtraction. There are six slides total but ten problems for easy grading!
I created this activity using Google forms. I push it out to my students through Google classroom.
Once downloaded, make a copy of the form to save in your drive before assigning it to students.
Students will open it, solve the problems (selected response and typed response), then submit. There are 20 cards (problems) total.
The activity is self-grading, so you can just record grades!
This is a holiday math review packet I made for my third graders. It is common core aligned and aligned to the Georgia Standards of Excellence for Mathematics. This is a print and use packet, great for reviewing on those days you just don't want to introduce new content (right before break).
Topics Included:
Multiplication Word Problems
Division Word Problems
Relating Multiplication and Division
Area
Addition
Subtraction
I made this to go along with the Number Talks mental math strategies. I want my students to find different ways to make or "decompose" numbers. The goal is for students to understand that what one student gets as an answer may be different from another student's answer, and that both students can be correct.
There are 24 cards in all that cover:
-Horizontally written problems
-Vertically written problems
-Word problems
-Properties
There are also multiple choice and constructed response.
