About the store
I began my teaching career in 2003, working as an elementary school teacher (5th grade). I then completed my coursework to shift to middle school teaching. I worked as a middle school teacher for several years, teaching math, Language Arts and history. I took a break for 5 years to be a stay-at-home mom to my three (at the time) children. I returned to middle school teaching when they all went to elementary school. Then in 2017, my family relocated to Shanghai, China for two years. While there, I taught 4th grade at an international school. Upon returning to the States in 2019, my family relocated to Minnesota where my IL teaching license was not valid. Due to our plans to adopt a child as well as the onset of Covid-19, I chose to discontinue my work as a classroom teacher. In 2021, I returned to education as a Special Education paraeducator. Through this job, I have worked with elementary school special education students in small groups and 1:1, tutoring these students in the academic areas of math, phonics and reading. I have created learning tools and activities for these students for support in grades K-5.

Special Education Communication Visuals for Lanyard

Created by
TMP Creations
These communication visuals are designed to be kept on a lanyard for easy access by Special Education teachers, general education teachers or paraeducators. The cards are about 2" by 2" in size. The borders of the cards are color-coded by type to allow adults to access the needed card faster. A marked corner for hole punching allows for all the cards to align evenly when added to a ring. The set also includes a page of blank cards in each of the colors in case specialized cards need to be made f

Teaching style

With my recent experience as a Special Education Paraeducator and my general education teaching experience, I approach all creations through the eyes of my students who struggle with concepts easily picked up by other students. I try to break down complicated topics with resources that make sense for students needing additional support.

University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (BS in Elementary Education, Minor in Mathematics) Benedictine University (IL) and Aurora University (IL), Middle School Math Coursework

Additional biographical information

I am a mom to four children living in the Twin Cities area of Minnesota. I began my career as a teacher, then saw the world of education through the eyes of a mother and most recently expanded my understanding of education as a Special Education Paraeducator. Thus the name TMP Creations. I absolutely love all things art and design, and I have a passion for creating tools to help all students be successful learners. Having lived overseas, I also have a deep interest in learning about and embracing new cultures.
