I use this map to introduce the topic of pre-Columbia America. The map has the students identify the continents that the First Americans traveled across, the coordinates for famous pre-Columbian cities, and the location Beringia.

This packet is used as non-fiction resource. It was created to mimic a magazine. The text is about climate and geography, culture, food, and location of the Southwest Native Americans. Within the pages of the text, there are "quick checks," which check for student understanding.
The RACE question answer strategy helps students attack extended response questions. It helps them understand how to answer a question and requires them to know how to break a question down.
RACE stands for "Recite the Question," "Answer the Question," "Cite the Evidence," and "Explain Evidence." In this particular graphic organizer, it requires students to cite two pieces of evidence.
