I create practical, real-world learning resources focused on communication, teamwork, career readiness, reflection, and student growth. My background includes instructional design, workforce training, onboarding, facilitation, program evaluation, and performance improvement across operational and educational environments. I currently work in learning and development, where I design training programs, learning systems, performance support tools, and scalable learning resources for employees and leaders. My experience also includes outdoor science education, mentoring, facilitation, video-based learning, and workforce readiness support. Tobar Works was built to create structured, useful resources that help students practice real-world skills—not just complete another worksheet.

Need a short, practical way to help students ask for help more clearly? This free communication skills activity gives students a simple three-part structure they can use when they are stuck: 1. Name the problem. 2. Say what they tried. 3. Ask for one clear next step. Students compare a vague help request with a clearer one, choose one school-based scenario, write a complete help request, revise one vague request, and complete a brief reflection. Experience

Teaching style

My teaching style is practical, structured, and action-focused. I believe students learn best when they practice real behaviors in realistic situations with clear support and reflection. Most resources are designed around: communication skills collaboration self-advocacy reflection career readiness problem-solving I use strengths-based and scenario-based approaches that help students apply skills instead of only reading about them. The goal is to create classroom-ready resources that feel mature, useful, and easy for teachers to implement with little prep.

Awards & shining teacher moments

Some of the most meaningful parts of my work have been helping learners build confidence, readiness, and practical skills in real environments. Highlights include: designing onboarding and enablement programs for operational teams mentoring internal trainers and facilitators leading workforce learning initiatives facilitating outdoor science and experiential learning programs supporting veteran and community-focused initiatives in Arizona building practical learning tools that improve clarity, consistency, and learner confidence I’m especially interested in helping students develop the communication and problem-solving skills that transfer beyond the classroom.

Tobar Works is based in Arizona and reflects a grounded, structured, western-industrial design approach focused on practical learning and performance support. Outside of instructional design and learning work, I’m involved in Arizona outdoor education, community engagement, interpretive hiking, and volunteer trail stewardship projects. I’m especially interested in helping learners build confidence, readiness, and communication skills they can use in school, work, and everyday life. The goal of this store is simple: create practical resources that help students practice useful real-world skills in a clear and approachable way.
