Experience

I am a twenty three year veteran of teaching at the Middle and High school levels. I also taught two years overseas in the United Arab Emirates in the Emirates National School in Abu Dhabi. I currently teach 10th, 12th and AP English at Charles Wright Academy in Tacoma, Washington.

Teaching style

I am a firm believer in experiential and student centered learning. I am a huge proponent of big learning events: individual and group projects that showcase student talent and expertise.

Awards & shining teacher moments

I earned my National Board for Professional Teaching Standards in 2006. I am also a USSF 'A' License soccer instructor.

My own education history

I earned my Bachelor of Arts degree from Simon Fraser University in British Columbia, Canada with a major in English and a minor in History.

Additional biographical information

I am a former professional soccer player and played in the North American Soccer League from 1976-1983 and in the Major Indoor Soccer League from 1983-1988. I was the first soccer player to be inducted into the Simon Fraser Athletic Hall of Fame, and I was also inducted into the Canadian Soccer Hall of Fame in 2005.
