With 23 years of experience, Mrs. San Miguel brings a wealth of expertise to her classroom. She is trained in TEACCH (Treatment and Education of Autistic and Related Communication-Handicapped Children), Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), and Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS) methodologies. Her classroom serves students in 3rd through 5th grade on the autism spectrum, and is thoughtfully designed to meet their individual needs. Mrs. San Miguel’s primary goals are to provide a structured and supportive learning environment, address communication challenges, and reduce the occurrence of challenging behaviors through proactive and personalized strategies.

Monthly Greater Than, Less Than and Equal To

This activity was created to support nonverbal students with autism by intentionally embedding communication skills into academic instruction. Many of my students use AAC devices or communication boards, and this resource helps them practice meaningful communication they can apply in everyday life. The activity focuses on a math vocabulary needed to compare numbers on a simplified visual support board paired images/words, allowing students to build expressive language while engaging in structure
