Teaching style

After becoming a certified Barton Reading & Spelling Tutor, I continued learning from Real Spelling and other Structured Word Inquiry courses. My continuing education opened my eyes to morphology, the structure of words that includes prefixes, suffixes, bases, and connecting vowel letters. Even more exciting to me is the role etymology, a word's history, plays in all the weird, irregular, or crazy words that dyslexic students frequently have trouble spelling.

My own education history

Lamar University, Utah Valley University, Homeschool Mom, Certified Barton Reading and Spelling System tutor, Spellinars from Real Spelling, LEXinars from Linguistic Educator Exchange, webinars from Dyslexia Training Institute's conferences, Lindamood-Bell LiPS, Handwriting Without Tears, Institute for Excellence in Writing, and Making Math Real. The real education has come from questions I'm asked by dyslexic students every day!
