I've been teaching for 14 years in Toronto, Canada, and 1 year overseas in London, UK. I've taught "regular" classes and Special Ed. classes, as well as French.
Inspired by the recent winter Olympics, I created a procedural activity where students invent their own sport. It's been hugely successful and I've learned how creative my students can be. I have included templates for the first and second draft of the activity, with a type of graphic organizer for the first draft. The instructions are written in the form of procedual writing so the students can use them as an example.
These task cards can be used for any novel study. They are open-ended so that they can be used for classes where students are all reading different books, or where they are all reading the same novel.
