Based on the book "How They Croaked" by George Bragg students will research a famous person and write a report. Then students will use creative writing to display different pieces of knowledge that the gained through their research.

They are looking for a magazine that captures the elements of your region’s culture, history, current events and geography. Your magazine will need to be professionally published and have multiple illustrations. As with any magazine, your group will need to find companies from your region to advertise their products.

TIME magazine has come to your school asking for help in researching well known people from the past and present. The editors at TIME magazine will be creating a special edition entitled,The Faces of History Past and Present, and they need us to help them choose the people that will be featured in the magazine. Students will read a folk tale and create a puppet show based on the folk tale.
This could be used with different countries folk tales, different cultures folk tales, Native American tales, origin stories, etc.
Students have a lot of fun creating a puppet show to share with their classmates or the school!
Students choose a fairy tale and they write the story from another characters point of view.
A fun way to introduce this writing assignment is to watch 'Hoodwinked' which tells the fairy tale 'Little Red Riding Hood' from multiple perspectives.

Students will create a scrapbook page each month. Students are given components for the scrapbook page and examples of how to complete it.

Instead of teaching Ohio geography, students will explore the subject through short activities. Once they have completed C layer, students will come up to the teacher and have a conference. At the conference, the teacher will ask the students geography questions that the students should be able to answer after completely their activities. If they answer completely they continue to B layer, if they answer incorrectly they go back and complete another C layer activity.
As a group students will choose an African country to research and present to the class. They will work to create a time line.
Students will then work independently to research their topic: Map, culture, religion, history, government, important people, current events, economics and government.

An excellent project for students to learn about different countries. There is flexibility to have students work independently, in pairs, or small groups. This could be a stand alone project or a culminating project.
Students will research a country and use a cereal box to display their knowledge. This was a fun and creative project for my students because they could design the box how they wanted.

An extension menu to be used while teaching about the US revolutionary war and independence. Students are given choices of topics and of types of projects.
Facebook is a site used by many of us on our personal time, but have you thought about using it in your classroom? This is a fun and easy way for students to use prospective writing to show what they have learned about a particular person.
There are countless ways that this project could be used and in every subject. Students could research real people or they could become objects such as planets, concepts in math, fictional book characters, etc.
Students will research 1 planet and use that information to create a planetary file on it. Within their planetary file they will create a trading card, Venn diagram comparing their planet to Earth, history of the name, concrete poem, and create their own alien.
