When introducing my students to the Kodaly method's solfege street, my students struggled to understand that although Do's house appeared before Sol's on the hill, Do doesn't always go first in the music. I created "Music Tower" or "Solfege Tower" to better illustrate the vertical relationship between the pitches.
It includes a slide for each new neighbor in the apartment building:
Sol
Sol & Mi
La, Sol & Mi

Use this elements of music page in your students' interactive notebooks. We will be doing a "graffiti board" by having students brainstorm sounds they hear in music and writing them all over the whiteboard. Then we will be sorting the descriptive words into the various elements of music. Could also be used to write a definition inside the fold!

When a student finds an egg, they record the number from the melody next to the matching solfege. I make my students find 3 of the blue color before coming to check in with me, and then they are permitted to move to purple if all 3 blue were correct. With 6 levels of note reading, this acti
