This is intended to be used as a summative research project to end a unit on Ancient Egypt. I usually introduce Egyptian pharaohs by showing a few videos on some major egyptian Pharaohs. I then allow students to choose which Pharaoh they would like to research, they can do this project independently or with a partner. I start off with a fun Youtube video or song, then the lesson slide show, and fish my class with having students fill out the worksheet. This is meant to be a review of basic map skills, including the 5 Themes of Geography, types of maps, longitude and latitude lines etc. I use this to review basic geography with my 7th graders. On September 11th I use this lesson with my 7th graders. I start with showing the History channel video, then go into going over the slideshow lesson, then assign the project. This bundle includes the lesson as well as the project rubric.

I firmly believe that meaningful learning begins with trust and connection. To effectively teach a child, it is essential first to show them that they are valued, cared for, and safe in the learning environment. Establishing strong, positive relationships with my students is the foundation upon which all academic growth is built.
