Students practice the concept of reflections by reflecting each line across the y-axis. In addition, students identify the coordinates of 3 points and their reflections. Differentiation - Students can draw extra details, such as windows, a moat, a bridge, or flags, as long as they do the same thing to both sides.

Hook the students with the song "Johnny Johnny, Yes Papa." It is a song about a boy sneaking sugar from a sugar jar. Johnny and his friends are transferring sugar from one sugar jar to another, and trying to sneak sugar in the process. *This is not my song, but I am providing a link to it on YouTube. Although the song is intended for little kids, middle school students love it! Students will find the volume of each cylinder, then compare the amount of sugar to the amount in the original jar.

Students draw a reflection of a rainbow to practice the concept of reflections across the x-axis. I use this as an introduction to reflections before I teach reflections on a coordinate plane. There are 2 versions. Version 1 has an R on the bottom to help students reflect the word, and Version 2 has a blank canvas on the bottom.
