Students find circular objects and measure the diameter. They use the diameter to find the radius, and then solve for the area and circumference of each circle. You will need circular objects and rulers for this activity.

Pi Day Discovery Where Does 3.14 Come From? Middle School Math
Students use circular objects and measure the diameter. Students can either measure the circumference or use the formula to determine the circumference. Then students evaluate c+d, c-d, c*d, and c/d. Students will conclude which expression results in pi. UPDATE: This now includes a version with pre-filled measurements so students only need to evaluate the expressions. Teaching style
It's my goal to create middle school math lessons that reduce math anxiety and encourage students to try. I want every student engaged in math and to feel successful.
