Teaching and Learning Ideas For The Slang "6...7" or the 67th Day of School

"6.....7...." if you can't beat 'em, join 'em! I decided to create a 34-page packet of activities that teacher can use in their classroom to make this popular slang term a learning opportunity! Pages include, "When I am 67 Years Old," role playing, writing an acrostic poem, reading about 1967, jokes, making 67 from different items, art, foreign language, breathing, and much more! I would say most things are for upper elementary, but a lot can work for the littles, with some scaffolding, too! My

Book Review Template-Designed for Chapter Books (Editable)

I created my own book review template for my classroom. It is designed for chapter books, but can be edited. I included my editable version. The review includes a 1-5 star ranking, a summary, theme, setting, characters, illustration, and students must try to persuade me to read this WONDERFUL BOOK! :) I designed it to be printed lik

World Community Studies Weekly-3rd Grade-Think and Review Questions

I created a Word document that contains the Think and Review questions that are usually located on the back of each World Community Studies Weekly newspaper. If there were few enough questions, I made it printer-friendly and added two sets of questions to one page. If there were a lot of questions, one set will have to be printed on one page. I left it in a Word document, so it can be edited as needed. I did not include weeks 1, 7, 11, and 18, because there were no questions for those weeks. Enj

31 Oliver Twist Comprehension Questions (Most Are a DOK 2, In My Opinion)

I decided to read this book to my students. I wanted to provide them with more than just knowledge level questions. After we finished each chapter, I provided thought provoking questions that I believe are at least a DOK 2. Students had to form opinions and defend their opinions. They had to predict. They had to summarize and discuss. The chapters are not provided with the questions, but you can tell after reading each chapter which questions are appropriate. There are 31 questions.

Who is That Behind the Mask? Why, It's ME Behind The Mask!

I wanted an activity to use in a few weeks for students to illustrate what they look like in a mask, with their eye color, hair color, and skin color. Then, I wanted them to be able to remove the mask and illustrate their big smile, as well as share some of their characteristics. However, I knew my kids would struggle to fold the appropriate ways and illustrate, so I made a template for them. I can't wait to try this! You might as well make mask-wearing enjoyable!
