Activity gives students practice with reading and recording data. Students read sets of data in paragraph and list form then they organize the data into a data table. Finally students graph the data. Students have to choose the best way to organize and the best graph to use.
Students search for checker pieces to simulate the consumption of renewable and non-renewable energy. Red chips represent renewable energy and black chips represent non-renewable energy. before students arrive place chips around the room. There should be less black chips then red chips(this represents the limited supply of resources). Give little explanation to students before they start.
