Activity gives students practice with reading and recording data. Students read sets of data in paragraph and list form then they organize the data into a data table. Finally students graph the data. Students have to choose the best way to organize and the best graph to use.

Introduce students to energy by completing an online "Web Walk". Questions are specific to the website provided at the top of the worksheet. Students do not need to "surf" the web for the information.

This slideshow gives students a brief history of the microscope and then describes each of the parts and their functions. The same picture is used for each slide. There is an arrow that changes with each slide/part. At the end their is a brief explanation on how to use the microscope.

Students search for checker pieces to simulate the consumption of renewable and non-renewable energy. Red chips represent renewable energy and black chips represent non-renewable energy. before students arrive place chips around the room. There should be less black chips then red chips(this represents the limited supply of resources). Give little explanation to students before they start. Three labs that introduce students to working in the lab with various pieces of lab equipment while practicing measuring with the metric system. The three labs cover, length(meters), mass(grams) and liters(volume). Information could easily be copied to word documents so that students could have a hard copy of the lab to work with. I notebook and use the projector daily, so I very rarely print materials for students.

PowerPoint presentation of a lab experiment that helps introduce students to scientific method or requires them to practice the inquiry process in a fun way. Also a great review at the end of a quarter or semester. Students are using their breath to blow various amounts of pennies across a surface. Could be done during a unit about the respiratory system to show the strength of the human lungs.

Presentation teaches students about the organelles of the cell(both plant and animal). The presentation also includes the Cell Theory and Prokaryotes and Eukaryotes.

After students learn the levels of organization students create a chart to explain their understanding of each level. Students are expected to be creative and think outside the box.

Simple lab that introduces students to making predictions and independent and dependent variables. After identifying the variables students predict which material will hold more drops of oil.

This notes page makes it easier for all students to follow along during direct instruction or is great for students that have IEPs. It requires they take notes but guides them through the process.

The ppt takes students through the levels of organization. There is a seperate worksheet that students can use to fill in as they read through the ppt or when you lecture it to them.
