Follow me on Instagram and Twitter! @squirrelymissh | I love my job and I'm so grateful for the experiences I've had in many different corners of education. I started as a 4th grade teacher. I transitioned into the Tech Coach and STEM teacher. Now, over a decade into my career, I am a special education teacher for 4th graders. I graduated from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign with my degree in Elementary Education. While I was there, I worked at a cultural museum on campus. This experience expanded my love for new cultures, people, traditions, and outlooks. I try to bring this interest into my classroom and share it with students to create well-rounded individuals.

Teaching style

I utilize group work, independent practice, and whole-group instruction. I am passionate about integrating technology into the classroom to prepare students for today's real world, so many of my products are digital and actually used by me with my kids! As a SpEd teacher, I know how important it is to get measurable data - fast. Many of my recent products reflect this. As much as possible, I try to include some kind of option for differentiation in my materials, whether that is modified assignment or strategies for the teacher. One size does not fit all for our students in this era of education!

My own education history

I graduated from the University of Illinois with my degree in Elementary Education. I am also endorsed to teach middle school science, social studies, and language arts. However, my heart is with the tiny humans in the primary grades. I earned my master's for a degree in Differentiated Education. This helps so much in today's world of education. One size doesn't always fit all.

Additional biographical information

I love, love, love animals! I try to befriend every single one I meet, even if they're a wild animal. I am a HUGE baseball fan, so I'm trying to expand my baseball-focused product line. My kids always get a kick out of them. I love to travel, explore, and try new things, especially new food! I almost went to culinary school instead of getting my degree in education. I know I made the right choice :-)
