Using place value charts and blocks, this 30 minute video lesson teaches students how to show a number in 2 different ways. They are shown how when one place value changes - regroups - you have to add a ten to the lower place value. It also stresses the importance of adding vertically going from greatest to least to find the sum of BOTH ways to show the number. It is so POWERFUL to see their eyes light up when the get the same sum for both numbers!
