About the store
We are twin sisters who both grew up around teachers. We are now teachers ourselves!
We are both in the middle of our 3 year teaching in Alexandria, Virginia. Maura teaches 3rd grade and Liz teaches 5th grade.
Teachers Pay Teachers has been such a wonderful resource to use as we started and continue to work in the wonderful profession of elementary education. We have been brainstorming and creating lessons and activities for as long as we remember. From the time we were 7 years old, creating activities for each other to do as we played "Teacher" for fun to now being teachers - we wanted to share our activities! We hope they help and always love to hear feedback :)

Author's Purpose PIE Activity
A great activity to either introduce or review Author's Purpose. Students can cut out parts of the chart and put them on the correct piece of the pie!

Running Record to use for any book, any level!
Ask your students to pull their free choice books and check that they are reading fluently, accurately and with understanding. This running record form can cover any grade level for about any 100 words passage. I ask my students to start reading wherever they are in the book. Once they are comfortable reading, I time them and check each line (there's a 100) noting any miscues or errors as they read. Once they hit 100 words, I stop my timer and see how long it took them... Context Clues - Nonsense Word
Here's a quick enriching activity that will help students understand and practice their knowledge of Context Clues.
Students will follow the steps and create their own nonsense word. They will add in 3 clues, then write their nonsense word into a paragraph. If they used strong clues then their partner should be able to figure out the meaning of their nonsense word!

This packet includes two lists with the i_e, igh, and ie patterns. This will help students with their spelling AND when they are decoding words with these patterns.
List A and List B were created to either modify or challenge your students.

Comma Practice
Comma practice is a 3 page practice document. 1 page designed to practice with students, the 2nd page as a homework assignment, and the 3rd page can be used as a quiz or an additional review. The sentences help students understand where commas should go (using the series of 3 rule, where they are placed in dialogue, between cities and states, in between more than one adjective.)
