Summary & Making a Mental Image Graphic Organizer
This organizer helps students boost comprehension through making mental images and later helps them summarize using the Someone Wanted But So Then summarizing strategy. We use this organizer during chapter book read alouds. It worked especially well with Charlie and the Chocolate Factory by Roald Dahl.
How we teach it:
1. Model how to draw a detailed mental image. Have a student read a paragraph of an especially descriptive book (Cynthia Rylant is a great author for this.) Then, on chart
