Understanding decimals (standard, money, place value, number lines, models)
Students will learn place value (hundredths, tenths, whole). Students will see how numbers relate to one another using multiple representations of numbers (standard, money, place value, number lines and models). This ppt will help students conceptualize decimals. You print last slide, so the students can shade in their models for better understanding. As with all my ppts, there is an assessment at the end of each section. Students will become familiar with number lines and those dreaded decimal

This ppt is for students and teachers that want to understand rounding conceptually before teaching the trick. Students will see how numbers relate to each other on number lines by finding the middle value. Students will practice rounding tens, hundreds, thousands. This ppt is EXTREMLY effective for ESL and SPED students. A formative assessment is at the end of the lesson.

This ppt helps students see the standard algorithm of 2 by 2 digit multiplication and how to read word problems using strategies and pictures. Assessments are at end. These can be given on paper or on board.

Students will extend their knowledge of expanded notation by including decimals. The students will view perfect modeling and there is a section on visualizing models conceptually.

Adding and Subtracting Decimals
Students will get to see PERFECT modeling without you having to be at the board or under your document camera. The slides have animation which resemble the teacher's steps. Students will gain confidence and you as the teacher will see LESS misconceptions using this method. Numbers are color coded (works wonders for ELL and SPED students). Assessment is at the end!

Multi-step problems with area models and strip diagrams
Students will learn how to solve multi-digit multiplication using area models. Students will understand strip diagrams and multi-step word problems. There is an assessment at the end which can be printed for performance feedback. Students will learn how to make their own word problems to better understand the concepts of strip diagrams.

Expanded notation and multiple representations of numbers
Students will be introduced to standard form, word form and expanded notation. There are practice problems with modeling and a short assessment to provide feedback. Students will be introduced and assessed on the understanding of place value from going left or right becoming 10 times greater or one-tenth.

Multiplying fractions and decimals using models
Students will view multiplying fractions and decimals using models. This lesson will help all students and prepare students for the difficult model assessment questions. Students will need to use crayons or colored pencils to complete the tasks. You can use the sheet as an assessment or as practice while you are teaching.
