About the store

Experience

I taught 14 years in elementary classrooms and have over a decade of teaching teachers. I love learning about how kids learn. I read all the time, love writing, learning about science and math. I like origami, knitting, crafting and spending time with my family.

Teaching style

I come from a constructivist point of view. Each person really does have to recreate the wheel and axel for themselves. Teachers can create environments in which students flourish. I value reflection, mindfulness and a calm rational approach to the curriculum. Real learning takes time, which is often forgotten these days.

My own education history

I went to Earlham College in Indiana, The University of Iowa and Michigan State University. I have two undergraduate degrees in psychology and education as well as a Masters in Teaching and Curriculum.

Additional biographical information

I love reading, teaching, learning and sharing time with friends and family. I love travel, music and crafts.
