I have been teaching since 2009.
In 2013, my school won the Tennessee Score Prize, which recognizes schools and districts that are doing the hard work of improving student achievement and preparing all students for success. Our school was also a Tennessee Reward school in both 2013 and 2014.
From 2015-2019 I taught Pre-K for Metro Nashville Public Schools. While teaching Pre-K in Metro, I was awarded Teacher of the Year for the 2018-2019 school year, served as a Peer Reviewer for the Kindergarten TEAM Portfolio, and was part of the Leadership Team for the Pyramid Equity Project: Preventing Unequal Disciplinary Bias in Pre-K Students. Our school became one of two model schools in the country for this grant. In October 2018, I was given the privilege to speak with the directors of the Pre-K Department at the MNPS Board Meeting on best practices that improve literacy achievement in Pre-K.
Since then, I'm back to teaching Kindergarten (& taught 2nd grade for a year) and currently in my 17th year of teaching in Murfreesboro, TN. I was our Kindergarten ELA lead for 2 years and currently serving my 3rd year as our Math lead. I was recently selected to be a part of the science implementation team for Rutherford County Schools since we adopted a new science curriculum.
