I currently teach in a Title I school in rural North Carolina. I have students in grades kindergarten through fifth with moderate to severe intellectual disabilities. Many of my students are diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder and/or have other unique medical needs requiring the significant modification of materials. All of my students are instructed via the Extended Content Standards, or North Carolina's alternate assessment pathway. We are a Unique Learning Systems classroom!
Students are expected to trace the word accompanied by the SymbolStix symbol. On the following worksheet, students are expected to trace the word and then match it to the symbol. These words are from the ULS elementary band
CVC Word Puzzles Students are expected to read the words and match it to the correct picture. All pieces fit together, so it is NOT self-checking There are 4 words for each vowel (20 words, 40 pieces in all)

Students are given 8 pictures and are expected to decide whether it starts with the shown letter or does not. There are 4 in each column. These worksheets cover all 26 letters and ch, sh, and th. The letters follow the pattern introduced using Unique Learning Systems, but can be printed and used in any order necessary!
