Watch The Lorax with your class, and have them make a copy of the Google Slide deck provided here. Then, they use the slides to show what they learned about the complicated web of relationships between the ecosystem and the society in the movie. Once they determine the cause and effect of these relationships, they use this to create claims based on evidence about what destroyed the Truffula Trees AND how they might be restored.
Use these sentence stems as a presentation, calling on students to use them with their vocabulary cards (also on my store), or assign different "color" slides to different groups of students depending on whether they are describing: character/emotion of music (pink) tempo (blue gray) dynamics (lavender) blend and balance of instruments (yellow) articulation/phrasing (gray) instrument technique (peach)
Students answer questions about emotions and communication as they watch Inside Out, and movie clip times are shown so that you can pause the movie for journaling. I like to do this as a Google document so that students can make a copy, keep it in the cloud for however many days we watch the movie (Fridays?), and type during pauses.
