Experience

Celebrating their progress and successes continually fuels my passion for special education and reinforces my commitment to advocating for each student’s unique journey.

Teaching style

I take a laid-back approach to teaching, striving to create a safe and welcoming space where students feel valued and supported. Encouraging self-autonomy is a cornerstone of my philosophy, as I believe fostering independence empowers students to take ownership of their learning. Offering options and choices is essential in helping students discover what works best for them. I balance direct instruction with a variety of inquiry-based assignments, tailoring lessons to be both engaging and interactive. Student feedback plays a vital role in shaping my instruction, ensuring lessons remain relevant and impactful. Additionally, I incorporate weekly social-emotional lessons to promote positive peer interactions and support students' overall well-being.

Awards & shining teacher moments

Any time a student comes to me as a trusted adult is an honor and a reward! Teacher of the Year Nominee

My own education history

I graduated from the University of Missouri in 2020 with a Bachelor of Science in Education, specializing in Mild/Moderate Cross-Categorical Special Education. While I initially envisioned working with young children, my student teaching experience ignited a passion for supporting high school students. This transformative realization led me to embrace the unique challenges and rewards of guiding older students through their academic and personal growth. Looking ahead, I aspire to earn a Master’s degree in Applied Behavior Analysis and become a Board Certified Behavior Analyst, furthering my commitment to empowering students with diverse needs.

Additional biographical information

My goal is to provide teachers resources to help them access the deeper levels of critical thinking and understanding needed to be successful. My priority is to help students reach their full potential before transitioning them into the adult world.
