This offering is a three puzzle package involving Thanksgiving. Included are an arithmetic-based essay where the student does elementary arithmetic to supply the numbers for my prose . . . hopefully mentally. The student will need to know how to add and subtract (which I've given instructions for), evaluate simple exponents, and obey the order of operations. There is a food search where the student will find 20 of the more common foods partaken on Thanksgiving, then uncover a hidden message

This offering is a nice puzzle to use during Thanksgiving week. It might best be used as a last day exercise in which fun can be had while learning also occurs . . . a win-win activity. Teaching style

Jay Waggoner and Matt Lora agree that students and teachers will have success in the math classroom by using 3 simple rules. 1) Teaching and Learning has to be FUN! 2) Students must memorize basic facts about numbers and their operations. 3) Monitoring of student performance must be weekly and should be cumulative using calculator and non-calculator assessments.
