Display the number grid on your SmartBoard. Split the students into groups or allow them to work individually. Pass out a copy of the problems to all students. Each time a group/student completes a problem they must check the answer. Students can work individually or in groups to graph various absolute value equations and compare that graph to the parent absolute value function. They use those comparisons to determine the relationships between the parent equation and the various ways to transform that equation.

This is a great resource for students to learn how to independently work on tasks in a classroom setting. It can be used with students who have IEPs, need modifications, or just have trouble working independently. The teacher fills in the tasks that are due on a weekly or daily basis. The student fills in the task they are working on at the beginning of a time frame and then they fill in what they accomplished during the time frame. It also allows teachers to fill in missing assignments and grad
