Math STEM Challenge: Strongest Structures

In this fun, hands-on math challenge, students will follow the engineering design process to determine which shape is stronger- triangles or quadrilaterals. Great project to tie together concepts and assess knowledge on classifying quadrilaterals and triangles. Activity can be completed independently, with a partner, or in small groups. Activity can take 1 to 2 class periods. My students had a blast trying to make their structure the strongest! Includes worksheet for students to follow the

I have a passion for education! Hard-working, adventure-seeking, outdoor-loving are the best three ways to describe me! I love to travel and experience new places. I love to share these experiences with my students and show them how STEM concepts are found and applied in the real world. In my free time, I enjoy reading, learning as much as I can about how to be a better teacher, running, kayaking, hiking, and cooking.
