Love to teach Mythology? Humanities? Your students will love this activity as they create a gameboard instead of writing a research paper about their favorite god, goddess, demigod or creature. A large pizza box is designed and used to store their gameboard which is created in story format (sequence) like Hercules and his twelve labors. Everything has to be made by the students including dice, if that is part of the game. Three dimensional requirements are also a must. Rubric included.

The change in teaching is now through a professional growth plan or professional development plan. In this plan, we now have to measure students through formal and summative data and quantitative and qualitative data. We also need to research and cite data and statistics, show timeline and teach from a stretch goal. What happened to the good 'ole days! This plans ties into teaching Hands-on Equations for gifted but it is an example of what is needed to write a complete plan.

Humane Education, as well as Character Education, is mandated in the State of Florida. But more than that, our county shelters are killing at a rate of 150 animals per WEEK! We need to educate our students the effects of non spaying/neutering has on our animals and shelters. This hands-on activity ties to the book, It's Raining Cats and Cats by Jeanne Provost. Perfect for grades 1-3 but we have been using the title with our middle school kids for fund raising events.

This is a book I wrote years ago teaching decimeter, centimeter and millimeter called The Meter Eater. The story is about the Meter family that has to earn his/her place in the family. Deci is the last born. In order to become a "Deci"meter, he has to wander through the woods and eat 10 beings to earn a meter. Professional Growth Plans requires several different types of assessment and feedback. One important piece is providing the teacher feedback on his/her instuctional delivery. This survey is a questionnaire on the teacher's delivery of instructional math. The word document will allow you the modify the questions to fit your needs including changing the wording to fit other subject areas.

Each year I hand out a welcome letter with supply list. I teach gifted resource so I see a different grade level each day. This means a different schedule, lessons, activities and supplies. I use this letter each year as my template and change yearly. I also have extra copies on hand for newly staffed students. Can be used for general ed. classes.

I wished I had an example of a grant to help me when I wrote this one. I searched and searched for a grant to use as an example; I had nothing to help me except for the county grant guru! I am proud of this and have received several since in the total amount of $11,500. I am so comfortable writing grants, I enjoy doing so as it feels like winning the lottery when awarded. I now help the county review grants.

How about writing a marketing plan in lieu of a grant? After much googling on business marketing plans, I developed this one for the Canine Commandos and PetCo partnership (still awaiting response).

Would you like to offer Humane Education to your teachers? The idea behind Aim Humane is to drive HE through literature with pre-made lesson plans. Guest speakers are all well and good but if HE is not taught with all other subjects, it will not make an impact. Teachers are overwhelmed; Aim Humane takes the burden of planning off the teachers and provides class sets with lesson plans and activities. All the teachers have to do is ask!

This grant was written for a competition with surveying grades K-2 eating their fruits and/or vegetables at lunch. My team discovered most were thrown out and created literature to teach children the benefits of eating fruits and vegetables.

Most grants require a final report at the end of the school year or funding. This is the report submitted for my awarded $10,000 gifted grant.
