In addition to teaching at the high school level I was also a tutor for 2.5 years. In that time I taught both ACT and SAT prep courses, general homework help. In addition to these programs I was also leading literacy, math, and science programs at varying academic levels. I also helped pilot a preschool program that taught phonics and early reading skills for children before entering pre school. For the last 2 years I have also been one of the key writers of curriculum for a school district that is piloting Competency Based Education.

Parent/Guardian Contact Form

This google form is what I use whenever I call/email/meet with a parent or guardian of my students. This is useful for Distant Learning, I fill in the data for the contacts that I made and the information that is entered is then compiled for me, and time stamped. This way I can send this data directly to counselors, assistant principals, and social workers for attendance purposes. I use this for my 4C Danielson artifact for evaluations as well, for contact with families.

Teaching style

Learning through discovery is the name of the game when it comes to using scientific practices. I use the NGSS practices to format my materials. The last two years I have used student led inquiry and interdisciplinary styles. I have also been trained using Kagan structures within the classroom.

Awards & shining teacher moments

I was nominated NHSS teacher of the year 2024.

My own education history

I graduated from Olivet Nazarene University with a degree in Science Education with a Biology Concentration. With this degree I am qualified to teach almost any science, but only able to teach AP in Biology.
