Students learn about tsunamis using a case study of the 2011 Japanese tsunami. They read through the causes and facts of the tsunami and answer questions along the way. There is a short video about the propagation of a Tsunami. Google link provided for easy inclusion into your virtual classroom

I had a hard time finding lessons on sea turtles for middle/high school. This webquest allows students to identify turtles based on their carapace, goes over Endangered Species Act, traces a sea turtles journey into international waters.

Students calculate tidal range and then use the information to determine the neap tide, spring tide, 3rd quarter moon, new moon and 1st quarter moon. They use predicted and actual tide data to develop a hypothesis about why the actual is so different from the predicted. Google document link is included for easy inclusion to your virtual classroom.
