This activity, geared towards grade 7/8 math on estimating square roots, will sure keep the students engaged and excited to land on the few surprise numbered boxes that will provide them with a riddle to solve among the boxes that contain estimating square roots questions. This activity is great to use either in person or virtually. Depending on how many students are in the class, they can be split into groups of 2 - 4. In a random order, each group chooses one of the balloons on the screen to "pop". Behind the balloon will be 2 binomial expressions that the group will have to add, combine like terms and simplify the answer. This can be played as a concluding activity or as part of a review session on adding expressions.
