About the store
I graduated in 2000 with a degree in Elementary Education. I was a substitute for two years and then worked at a small Christian school for two years. Having just had my first child, my husband and I either had to move away so I could find a full time teaching job, or I needed to find another career path. I went back to school and got a degree in Nursing. I worked in various settings as a nurse, but always felt pulled back to the classroom. I took a part-time nursing job in the school system to get my foot in the door. From there, I renewed my teaching certificate and applied for teaching jobs as they came. Luckily, it didn't take very long and the same principal that hired me as a nurse took a chance on me as a teacher...and the rest is history. This is my 6th year teaching 2nd Grade, and I continue to love it!

Teaching style

I believe in teaching in a way that best suits the needs of all learners in the classroom. I love to try new things and inspire my students with fun, engaging lessons. I am also learning the value of small group guided lessons and hands-on learning centers. Teaching, ironically, provides an endless opportunity to learn.

My own education history

I graduated in 2000 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Elementary Education from West Liberty University in WV.

Additional biographical information

I also have a BSN from West Liberty University. I have worked in many different areas of nursing including surgery, pediatrics, newborn nursery, post - partum, and labor and delivery. I am happily married to my high school sweetheart. We have three children and a feisty little chihuahua named Milo.
