Teaching style

My teaching style is centred on creating a fun, engaging, and supportive classroom environment where all students feel comfortable having a go. I strongly believe that mistakes are a natural and essential part of learning a language. By removing the fear of getting things wrong, students become more willing to participate, take risks, and build confidence in their abilities. My resources are designed with this in mind: to encourage creativity, curiosity, and positive learning experiences for every student.

Awards & shining teacher moments

Across my career, some of the most rewarding moments have come from seeing students genuinely connect with language in creative and meaningful ways. I’ve led international learning projects that connect students across countries, designed whole-school challenges that spark excitement and participation, and developed programs that encourage students to take risks and enjoy the learning process. Whether it’s a classroom activity that gets every student involved, a cultural project that brings learning to life, or a competition that builds confidence and pride, these moments have shaped the way I design my resources. Everything I create is grounded in real experiences that have successfully engaged students and made learning memorable.

My own education history

My teaching practice is supported by a strong academic background in education, leadership, and research. I hold a Master of Education (Leadership) and a Master of Education (Action Research), and I am currently completing a Doctor of Education. I also have qualifications in business and psychology, which influence my approach to student engagement, motivation, and learning design. This combination of study and classroom experience allows me to create resources that are both practical for teachers and grounded in effective educational principles.

Additional biographical information

Outside of the classroom, I have a strong interest in languages, culture, and international connections. Having lived and worked in Japan, Finland and the UK, I bring real-world cultural experiences into my teaching and resource design. I enjoy creating opportunities for students to connect with the world beyond the classroom through language, creativity, and collaboration. I am also passionate about using digital technologies to enhance learning and make lessons more engaging and accessible for all students.
