If you are looking for lab that addresses HS-PS2-1, you've come to right place! This lab uses a PhET simulation to collect force and acceleration data while keeping the mass constant. Students then graph their data, find the slope, and eventually derive Newton's 2nd Law! This lab specifically addresses evidence statement, "Students organize data that represent the net force on a macroscopic object, its mass (which is held constant), and its acceleration (e.g., via tables, graphs, charts, vector
I made this document for myself because I wanted students to have practice making PRECISE measurements during a lab involving lengths. I want students to be able to use a meter stick to determine length of a spring be stretched to nearest hundredth of a centimeter, which will require them to estimate the last digit.
