Teaching style

With 20 years in Early Childhood Education, I’ve learned that the most profound learning doesn't happen when children are told what to do—it happens when they are given the freedom to lead. My educational style centers on child-led play, an approach that honors a child’s natural curiosity. I believe my role is to "set the stage" with purposeful environments and then step back, allowing children to explore, problem-solve, and innovate at their own pace. By following their lead, we foster a lifelong love of learning and a deep sense of agency.

Awards & shining teacher moments

Two-Time Teacher of the Year Nominee: Recognized by peers and the community for excellence in the classroom and dedication to student success. District Teacher Leader & Coach: Currently serving as a mentor and coach within my district, supporting fellow early childhood educators and shaping instructional best practices. Early Childhood Specialist: Dedicated to the "bridge" between home and school, specifically designing readiness initiatives for children and families before formal enrollment. Continuous Learner: Regularly deepening my expertise in child development through national and regional conferences, including NAEYC and Ready at Five.

My own education history

My journey in education truly came full circle; I am a proud product of the PK-12 system in the very district where I now serve as a Teacher Leader and Coach. My foundational training began at Towson University, where I earned my Bachelor’s degree, followed by a Master’s degree from LaSalle University. As a lifelong learner, I hold my Advanced Professional Certificate (APC) and am constantly seeking ways to deepen my impact. I am a certified FLIP IT® Trainer and have completed the Jim Knight Coaching Institute to better support my fellow educators. With a deep specialty in early literacy—including training in LETRS, E-LETRS, and Fundations—and as an honors graduate of the P-3 Leadership Summit, I am dedicated to ensuring that the bridge between home and school is built on research-based excellence and a deep love for the youngest learners.

Additional biographical information

When I’m not coaching teachers or creating new resources, my heart is at home with my family. I’ve been married to my wonderful husband for 15 years, and together we’ve raised two truly "awesome humans." Our son is currently pursuing his electrical apprenticeship and was a record-setting wrestler right here in our hometown (it’s a joy to see him work so hard!). Our 8th-grade daughter is a total sports fanatic; while she excels at everything she tries, soccer is her true passion. Watching her compete in amazing tournaments across the region is one of my favorite ways to spend a weekend. What I’m most proud of, though, is their character—they are the first to help others and always have a smile ready to share. Completing our family are our two Cane Corsos, who are absolutely our "fur babies" and keep our house full of love!
