We Learn Different

I'm a paraprofessional who works with children with special abilities. While there are challenges, I discovered a real passion for thinking outside the box to support my students. I especially enjoy modifying schoolwork so they can succeed in the general education classroom. I believe every child can learn the same material—it just might need to be presented differently. Helping each student find what works best for them is key to their success.

I design learning materials with simplicity and clarity in mind. I try to use real-life photos to support visual learning and help students with special needs make meaningful connections. I prefer plain, easy-to-read text without decorative fonts, which helps reduce anxiety and improve understanding. I focus on highlighting only the most essential words or facts, avoiding clutter to make the content more accessible. I also incorporate light pastel colors to create a calm, soothing visual experience.

I am a paraprofessional and work with children with special abilities. There were challenges, and I found I loved to think outside the box for my students. Modifying schoolwork for students was a passion of mine. I wanted them to succeed in the general Ed classroom. Children can learn the same material, but in a different way. Finding what works for each child to learn, in their own way, helps them succeed!

I recently went back to college after many years of being a SAHM. I want to prove to my two amazing boys that it's never too late to do anything! I am interested in making and modifying materials on teachers pay teachers because one of my sons has a rare gene mutation, Cacna1a. He is very smart he just learns things in a different way. I try my best to modify some of his schoolwork and work sent home so it is easier for him to learn. He learns best with flashcards, pictures, matching, and fewer words on a page. I hope to share some of his ways of learning with the hope it will help others!
