About the store
Both Kathryn and Erin were selected as Golden Apple Scholars in their preservice years of teaching. As Golden Apple Scholars, Kathryn and Erin spent their summer teaching in inner-city Chicago schools while obtaining 180 hours of professional development each summer. They are both getting ready to begin their fourth year of teaching high school mathematics and business. Kathryn recently obtained her masters in Secondary Mathematics with hopes to teach both college and high school math. Erin recently obtained her masters in Business Administration in order to obtain a second certificate in business. This allows her to teach both math and business at the high school level and business level college level.

Trigonometric Functions CSI
The following activity is similar to the game Clue. Students will receive ten clues by answering ten problems. At the end of the packet, the students should know who, with what, and where the crime happened. These are editable so that you can make it school specific. There are 6 teachers, one principal, and the name of your school that will need to be entered. There are instructions for doing this quickly at the bottom of the document. The kids LOVE these!

Students will be divided into groups of two. Each group will receive a laminated wheel. In the corner, it will have answer options that go with each section of the wheel. Students will solve the problems on each section and write the letter with the corresponding answer on the blank section on the outside of the wheel. Check the answers using the attached key.

Double and Half Angle Formula Hot Seat
Each team will be in a straight line. The person in the first seat with have the whiteboard. A question will appear and the team will simplify the function. The first person will write the answer on the whiteboard then pass the whiteboard back. As the board is getting passed back, the other team members are checking for any mistakes.
The first team to pass the board back and hold it up with the correct answer will receive two points.The following teams with the correct answer will receive 1 poin

Natural Logarithm Maze
This maze contains concepts of applying properties of logarithms, expanding/condensing a natural log, and solving equations with natural logs. We suggest laminating this maze so that students can write on it with a dry erase marker. You may pair students in groups of two or have them work on this individually. Parabola Tic Tac Toe
First choose which partner will be “x” and which will be “o”. Take turns picking a problem listed below and solve. The answer to the problem you select should be listed below. Simplifying Algebraic Fractions Task Cards
Students will be placed into groups. They will be given several task cards to complete together. While students are working on the task cards, you may star them as they get them correct or x them to let students know to come back to that problem. Once students have worked through all of their given task cards, they should get new task cards by picking more up or switching with other groups.

Scaffolded Trig Identities
Students will receive 5 problems of trig identities. Some of the problems tell the students the reasons and they will have to figure steps. Others will be given the steps and the students will have to fill in the reasons. There is also a combination of reasons/steps given on some of the problems. This activity is scaffolded. We suggest working in pairs.

Area of Oblique Triangles
Students will be divided into groups of 2. Each group will receive clothespins with answers written on them that correspond to the problems on the wheel. The students will solve for the vertex of quadratic equations in standard form and determine whether the vertex is a max/min. They will then place the correct clothespin on the wheel. Solving Quadratics by Graphing and Factoring STICKERS
You will need:
Standard set of printer labels
Students are given a worksheet with a problem and a blank graph and will need to find the vertex and solutions to the graph. Then they will need graph the results on the blank graph provided and stick the labels with the correct answers in the corresponding columns.

Infinite Geometry Sums Puzzle
Students will be given a stack of puzzle pieces. Each piece will contain answers and problems. Students will solve the problem on the puzzle piece and find the answer to the problem on another piece. The answer and problem should line up to make the puzzle. We suggest doing this in groups of 2 or 3.

Experience

Teaching style
Both Erin and Kathryn believe in the "I do, we do, you do" style of teaching. On a typical day, their lessons include a warm up, lecture, pair/group activity, check for understanding, and a short homework assignment will be given. Kathryn teaches block schedule (85 minute periods) while Erin teaches traditional schedule (50 minute periods).
