I spent the firt 10 years of my career in a self-contained 3rd grade classroom.
A few years ago I had the opportunity to move to 4th grade science and I jumped on it!
This test is designed as an assessment for potential and kinetic energy. It includes definitions as well as questions that require application of a student's knowledge.
This activity includes step-by-step intrustructions, as well as color pictures for students to build their own mini catapults. It also has a table for students to record the points earned during their launches. I added some questions at the end that require students to apply their knowledge of potential and kinetic energy.
The last page is a bullseye target with one of those pesky pigs in the middle.
I created this investigation as an introduction to animal classification. It will take students on a question where they will learn the meaning of the following terms.
Invertebrate
vertebrate
mammal
fish
amphibian
reptile
birds
Students will have fun while they reserach and see colorful photos and answer comprehension questions.
Include definitions and a color picture for each of the following terms. Each definition is a 70 font to ensure students can read them from various desk locations in the room.
These definitions were created to accompany the Interactive Science Series by Pearson.

This assignment was designed to support a physical science unit. It is worded to be an at home assignment that challenges students to build a paper airplane that will fly farther than their classmates. I've included a data table for recording distances and modifications. Students are required to bring their airplane to school for airplane races with their classmates.
There are also three links included for paper airplane design ideas.
